December 18, 2025...Wishing all a Merry Christmas!

This holiday season was really busy for me as I finished up 10 quilts and brought them to the hospital. Every few months, my son has a cardiology appointment at the Duke Children's Center, and at these appointments is when I try to have my quilts finished to bring in with us. It gives me a deadline that I know about well in advance which is ultimately why I do it this why. It's usually challenging for me to finish all of the quilts on time....I have three little children and I only have time to quilt when they are asleep. Which means I do not get as much sleep as I should.. Usually, the night before my son's "big" appointment, I am up late finishing the quilts and even washing them. My kids have learned to sleep through the loud thwack-thwack-thwacking of my sewing machine (because I do not have the fanciest machine, and it has a few broken joints but otherwise works amazing). On busier days, I have to tie up the quilts up with my logo the morning of the appointment as I am hustling out the door!
My goals for Quilts for Cardiac Kids is to recruit people to help make quilts, and also to spread the word to continue to receive quilt donations and cash donations. I will have quilt kits and quilts for sale as well. These sales will help me supply my materials, needs, threads, etc, and as well storage for fabric and batting. Everything is done with my not fancy sewing machine and in my dining room.
I'm looking forward to what is in stores here at Quilts For Cardiac Kids. Please check back in the New Year. I will be slowing down during the holiday season to be present with my kids and family. I wish you the merriest Christmas and a Happy New Year!
